Bishop Maurício Agostinho Camuto of Caxito Diocese in Angola has urged the government of the Southern African nation to take into account the honesty of those to be appointed to oversee State institutions.
In a Monday, January 29 press conference following a pastoral visit to St. Paul Mulenvos Parish of his Episcopal See, Bishop Camuto said, “We have to look for more and more honest administrators, who are really dedicated to serving the people, to serving the population.”
“We already know that there are administrators who aren't serious; they're not there to work for the people, but to work for their own pockets,” he lamented, adding, “These administrators are no good. They have to be changed and replaced by people who work. This tarnishes the government; it tarnishes the party and ultimately, it's the people who suffer.”
The Angolan Catholic Bishop told journalists that President João Lourenço might not be aware of the far reaching consequences of his decision to appoint “dishonest administrators”.
“When he appoints administrators, he has to listen to the people and give them tasks and check and monitor their work, because many administrators don't do what they're supposed to do,” the Angolan member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit under the protection of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CSSp/Spiritans) lamented.
