Korhogo, 09 March, 2025 / 7:52 pm (ACI Africa).
Mons. Armand Koné, who was appointed Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Korhogo in Ivory Coast on March 7 has weighed in on his Episcopal appointment, emphasizing his reliance on God's grace in humility.
In an interview with ACI Africa, Mons. Koné said he would also rely on the support of the people of God under his pastoral care, including the Clergy, women and men Religious, and Laity.
“At this precise moment, an image that comes to my reflection is the image of the smallness of my person, of the sinner that I am, in adoration before the Lord. And I tell myself, may His will be done,” the Archbishop-elect told ACI Africa during the Saturday, March 8 interview.
He said that while the Episcopal ministry he has accepted is important, shepherding the people of God in his native Metropolitan See could come with challenges expressed in the saying, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.”
“I count on the grace of the Lord; I count on the spirit of brotherhood of everyone,” the Archbishop-elect said, and added, “Hand in hand, we are going to walk together in synodality so that the Church of Korhogo goes forward, and that its progress impacts the universal Church.”
