The Moderator of St. Mary’s Mukuru Parish of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi (ADN), has appealed for support to help take to the next level the ongoing construction of a new church building, an initiative he described as ambitious and “very big”.
In an interview with ACI Africa on Sunday, June 22, Martin Malonza said, “Sincerely speaking, the project ahead of us is very big. Depending on our capability, we really need friends and well-wishers.”
“If someone outside there… can assist us in raising something, however small, it will be a very big boost for us,” added Mr. Malonza.
The Parish Moderator, who spoke to ACI Africa on the sidelines of the visit of a 12-member delegation of young Catholic adults from the Diocese of Phoenix to the slum Parish as part of the U.S. Episcopal See’s Engage Your Equal (EYE) program emphasized the need for partners to facilitate the completion of the church building.
“We ask for your support. No matter how small, your help will bring us closer to completing this house of God, for a community that needs it now more than ever,” he said about the KES. 150 million (US$. 1.16 million) initiative, realized in phases.
