Bishop Jesús Ruiz Molina of the Catholic Diocese of Mbaïki in the Central African Republic (CAR) has denied accusations of silence and complicity in an anonymous allegation of sexual abuse involving a Diocesan Priest.
In a July 18 statement, Bishop Molina describes the claims as false and calls for the pursuit of truth, reconciliation, and unity in his Episcopal See.
The allegations follow recent changes he made in his Episcopal See, including the removal of Fr. Alain le Patrick Mokopame from his position as Vicar General. The latter subsequently accused Bishop Molina of silence and complicity in an alleged abuse of a minor.
In the statement, the Local Ordinary of Mbaïki Diocese says the claims are “rumors, inaccurate information, distorted interpretations, and accusations” against him, and goes on to offer clarifications surrounding the case and the recent changes that affected Fr. Mokopame.
“Fr. Alain le Patrick MOKOPAME accuses me of removing him from his position due to my alleged silence and complicity in an anonymous accusation of pedophilia against a priest of the diocese. This is false,” the Spanish-born member of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus (M.C.C.J) recounts.
