The Pontifical Mission Society of the Holy Childhood in Malawi has emphasized the importance of involving children in the Church’s salvific mission, highlighting their role in advancing its goal of transforming lives.
In a message to all Dioceses in Malawi during the 75th celebration of 2026 World Epiphany Sunday, the PMS officials in the country highlighted ways in which children in the Southern African nation can be united in the Church’s mission.
“Children should be united in mission to fulfill the purpose of the Lord Jesus and the purpose of the Church to change people’s lives and save them,” the officials said in the message they issued on Sunday, January 4.
They highlighted unity of purpose as one way in which children should participate in the Church’s mission, saying, “Children should be helped to understand that mission requires unity to succeed.”
“The Lord Jesus emphasizes that unity among ministers is great evidence that the Lord Jesus is among them and is the one who sends them,” they said and explained in reference to the Gospel of St. Mark, “Let us learn to serve together with our neighbors. The Gospel tells us that the Lord Jesus chose 12 disciples.”
