Learners at Rwandan Salesian School “participate in clean-up work” to Realize Laudato Si’

In the April 26 report, a Salesian coach at the soccer field says it is important for young people at the centre to realize the importance of and their responsibility in conserving the environment. 

“We always push every child at our center to understand their responsibility in environmental issues,” the coach has been quoted as saying. 

The coach adds, “We learned about differentiating rotting and composting waste and storing it differently. We learned how non-biodegradable waste could damage soil and plants.”

He also discloses that the Salesian Oratory is planning for “a tree planting initiative and an environmental club in the near future.”

In the April 26 report, the interim Director of the U.S.-based development arm of the SDB, Salesian Missions, says, “Salesian organizations around the globe have been focused on environmental sustainability projects in response to Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ to raise awareness and increase action on the values ​​of integral ecology.”
