At the August 23 unveiling of the five-year Strategic Plan of the Communication Network for Catholic Sisters (CNCS) in Kenya, content producers at the media service of the Association of Sisterhoods of Kenya (AOSK) have been urged to ensure they publish authentic stories to counter rampant misinformation and disinformation.

In her speech at the ceremony held at AOSK Chemichemi ya Uzima College in the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi (ADN), the CNCS Board Chairperson, Sr. Josephine Kangogo, highlighted the value of the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan of the information service that is into its second year.

“There is always an urgency to tell authentic stories. There is a lot of (misinformation) out there,” Sr. Kagongo said.

She appealed to the people of God in Kenya, saying, “Lend us opportunities to harness digital technology, to tell our own stories with authenticity, to partner with institutions locally and globally, and to advocate for justice, the integrity of creation, and the dignity of every person.”

The CNCS Board Chairperson recognized the efforts of the members of the CNCS in coming up with the organization, saying, “Until every voice is heard online, I think the story of the world will remain incomplete, and that was the story of the Catholic Sisters. Sisters did so much, but nobody knew what they were doing.”

“We are very proud and happy that we have this communications network,” the Kenyan member of the Religious Institute of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart (DSH) said.

Regarding the mission of the CNCS, Sr. Kangogo stated that both partners and stakeholders are united in a single mission to ensure visibility of the services of the Catholic Sisters.

“Rooted in the mission of Christ, and the church's call to communicate truth, this strategic plan gives us a clear roadmap to strengthen the visibility of Catholic Sisters’ work,” she said, adding that the t2025-2030 Strategic Plan will also equip Sisters with the modern communication skills and the fostering of unity in the whole world for a “stronger public witness.”

The CNCS Board Chairperson, who also the Chairs AOSK expressed optimism in the success of the implementation of CNCS’s first strategic plan, saying, “I believe there are challenges, but we will work out our strategy. This will ensure that our aspirations as CNCS are translated into tangible achievements.”

“With a strategic plan, we know the path. We know where we are going,” she said, and added, “When the path is clear, even a long journey finds its end…With faith, unity, and strategic actions, we shall overcome these challenges.”

Sr. Kangogo reflected on the journey of the CNCS, which she described as having been a “dream” that would be realized through the hard work of the network’s leadership.

Speaking at the event, Anne Njoroge who serves as the grants manager of AOSK’s Sisters Blended Value Project (SBVP) at Strathmore University expressed joy in experiencing the impact of Catholic Sisters in the society, saying “The voices of Sisters, their stories and initiatives light up communities and touch lives in ways that are both profound and lasting.”

She expressed gratitude to the leadership of CNCS for collaborating with the SBVP.

Supported by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, SBVP is an initiative of Strathmore University Business School (SBS) in collaboration with the Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA).

The project that is being implemented in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, and Tanzania has been designed to support Catholic Sisters in developing sustainable social enterprises.

“I believe we're going to continue celebrating milestones, share stories of impact, and show the world the transformative power of Sisters' initiatives,” Ms. Njoroge said during the August 23 ceremony, and added, “This is a reminder that your voices are strong, and that united communities truly flourish.”

On the future of the CNCS and SBVP partnership, Ms. Njoroge emphasized the need to ensure the voices of Catholic Sisters are not only heard but also shape brighter and sustainable communities.

“As you move forward in this strategic path, I have no doubt that it will guide you to reaching greater heights, amplifying your voices, strengthening your networks, and inspiring brighter, more vibrant communities,” she added.
