Pope Francis has appointed Mons. David Koudougou who has been serving as the Diocesan Administrator of the Tenkodogo Catholic Diocese in Burkina Faso as the new Bishop of the Diocese.
The appointment of Mons. Koudougou as the new Bishop of the Burkinabe Diocese was made public on Thursday, February 6, and published by the Holy See press office on the same day.
The Diocese of Tenkodogo became vacant on 16 October 2023 following the transfer of Archbishop Prosper Kontiebo to Ouagadougou Archdiocese. Until his transfer, Archbishop Kontiebo had been shepherding the Diocese since his Episcopal ordination in June 2012.
Born on 1 August 1972 in Tenkodogo, the Bishop-elect was ordained a Priest on 14 July 2001 after completing his studies in Philosophy and Theology at the Saint Jean Baptiste Major Seminary in Wayalghin, in the catholic Archdiocese of Ouagadougou.
The Bishop-elect has served in different positions including the Parochial Vicar of the Sacred Heart Parish in Garango; the Parochial Vicar of Boussouma and the Parochial Vicar of Saint Paul of Moaga.
