Catholic Health Facility in Ghana Commended for Quality Health Care

As the Margret Marquart Catholic hospital commemorates 60 years of its existence in Ghana, the health institution has been commended for providing quality health care services to members of the community.

“For the past six decades, the hospital has not only expanded physically as an institution but it has become a driver of quality health service in Ghana,” Bishop Emmanuel Kofi Fianu of Ho diocese observed as he launched the Diamond Jubilee celebrations last week.

“The Margret Marquart Hospital has demonstrated commitment to the health needs of the people, perseverance and resilience in the pursuit of quality and excellence,” he said.

The Prelate further lauded the facility for giving quality health services to the poor and underprivileged in society in line with Jesus’ healing Ministry.

Bishop Fianu who is also the Episcopal Chairman for Health in Ghana appealed to Catholics and stakeholders to support the building of a Child Welfare Clinic (CWC) for children who receive health care from the facility saying, “they need to be supported to achieve this anniversary project.”

The Jubilee celebrations have been placed under the theme: 60 Years of Resilient Catholic Health System in Kpando; Honouring the past, celebrating the Present and building the Future.

The Deputy Volta Regional Minister of Health, Rev. Johnson Avuletey appreciated the efforts of the Catholic Church in providing many health facilities assuring that “government would continue embarking on proactive policies and programmes with stakeholders, to ensure access to basic quality health service delivery.”

The yearlong diamond Jubilee celebrations will end on September 25, 2020.

The Margret Marquart Catholic Hospital was established in 1960 by Dr. Maria Margret Marquart and two other Sisters of the Grail Movement, Sisters Phili Fucks and Anita Lininger from Germany.
