Members of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (SAC) in Malawi, also known as Pallottine Missionaries, have expressed hope that the election of a new Delegate Superior for the Society in the East African nation will continue inspiring new vocations.

In their Tuesday, July 29 statement, the Pallottines described the election of Fr. Richard Nyasaland Jere as “a new development” for the Society and its community members in Malawi.

“With joy and gratitude, we, the Pallottine family in Malawi, announce the election of Rev Fr Richard Nyasaland Jere SAC, as the new Delegate Superior of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottines) in Malawi,” they said.

The SAC members expressed hope that the Malawi Delegation, under the new leadership of Fr. Jere and the Council consisting of Fr. John Mangwele SAC and Fr. Francis Chibota SAC, would guide and strengthen the presence of the Society in Malawi.

They also expressed confidence that the Malawi Delegate will inspire “the revival of faith, rekindle charity, and inspire more young people to answer the call to serve as apostles” following the vision of their founder, St. Vincent Pallotti and with the support from the leadership of the Pallottines’ Province of the Heart, which is headquartered in Friedberg, Germany,

“We hope to reach more parishes, form more apostles, and strengthen our missionary presence in Malawi,” the SAC members said, and implored God to grant the new leadership “wisdom, courage, and deep pastoral for all.”

They further entrusted the new leadership to “the loving care of the Holy Spirit and the prayers of Mary Queen of the Apostles and St. Vincent Pallotti.”

They acknowledged with appreciation the support of the Society’s Provincial Rector and the Council for their support of the congregation’s evangelization mission and pastoral work.

“We thank Fr Markus Hau (SAC), the Provincial Rector and the Provincial Council, for continued support to our mission here in Malawi,” they said.

SAC opened their first mission, St. Vincent Pallotti Parish, Kaphatika, in December 2016, in the Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe.

More in Africa

Founded in 1835 in Rome by Saint Vincent Pallotti, the SAC aims “to increase the collaboration among the members of the Church, that is, among the diocesan priests, the male and female religious and the laity to fulfil fully and more efficiently the apostolic tasks.”

“We realise such aim in concrete ways in many cases through the institution of the Union of Catholic Apostolate,” say the Pallotines, on their charism, explaining, “The Union is an association of faithful following the charism of St.Vincent Pallotti and promote the collaboration among the laity, clerics and the religious.”
