Viana, 10 August, 2025 / 8:40 pm (ACI Africa).
The upcoming pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Muxima in Angola has been described as a time of grace, marked by spiritual renewal, national unity, and careful preparation to welcome thousands of pilgrims to one of sub-Saharan Africa’s most significant Marian sites.
Providing details of the event slated for September 5-7, the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Viana stated that conditions are set to receive with dignity the thousands of pilgrims expected for the pilgrimage.
“This pilgrimage is not just a religious event; it is part of our national identity,” Fr. Fila José Zua Cassule said during a press conference on Monday, August 4.
He described the pilgrimage as “a time of grace”, which he said aligns with the ongoing Catholic Church’s 2025 Jubilee Year.
Fr. Cassule said that this year’s theme, “With Mary, Mother of Hope, Pray for Us”, calls on the faithful to seek intercession and healing through the Virgin Mary, especially amid national and global challenges.
