The Governor of Western Equatoria State in South Sudan has lauded the smooth leadership transition at the Catholic University of South Sudan (CUofSS).
Governor James Al-Taib Berapai, who spoke on behalf of the South Sudan government during the Monday, September 1 installation of Br. Dr. Bruno Dada as the new Vice Chancellor (VC) of the CUofSS described the transition of leadership at the university as “historic” from which the South Sudanese government can draw lessons.
“It is a pleasant moment for me today, and it is historic at the same time to attend and participate in this important historical event,” Governor Al-Taib said about the installation of the South Sudanese member of the Congregation of the St. Martin De Porres Brothers as VC of CUofSS.
He lauded the smooth transition including the solemn atmosphere, and went on to say, “This is one of the things we have to learn here and should most of the politicians.”
In his speech, the South Sudanese Governor, who was sworn in office in August following his appointment by President Salva Kiir recalled his relationship with the CUofSS under the leadership of the outgoing VC, Fr. Matthew Pagan.
