Members of the Catholic Women Association in South Sudan, a group that empowers women in the Catholic Church spiritually, morally and economically, has extended assistance to families within Small Christian Community Centers (SCCs) in the Diocese of Yei, donating household goods.
The leadership of the group, on Saturday July 25, distributed cooking utensils, sleeping mats, buckets, bathing soaps and towels to families in three SCCs, 13 chapels as well as a number of households in Yei Diocese, which is 170km away from the capital Juba.
The Association’s Chairlady Rosemary Modong told Radio Easter of the Catholic Radio Network (CRN) in South Sudan that the items, meant to help vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 pandemic, were donated to the Catholic women by Terre des hommes (Tdh), a Swiss Non-governmental Organization (NGO) for Children’s aid.
“This is not such a big contribution; it is a small one but a sign that we women are on our work and anything small we get from well-wishers to the association, we share with our chapels and families equally,” said Ms. Modong, adding, “We are distributing to all our 13 chapels.”
Aiming to bring about positive, significant and lasting change in the lives of children and their communities, Tdh provides assistance to over four million children and their families in more than 40 countries annually through their health, protection and emergency relief programs.
