Bishop Maurício Agostinho Camuto of the Catholic Diocese of Caxito in Angola has called upon three newly ordained Priests to become steadfast witnesses of faith and sources of hope in their ministry among God’s people.
Presiding over the Priestly Ordination of Deacons Bernardo Chitangua, Gabriel Geraldo, and Helton Arão, Bishop Camuto emphasized that the Priesthood is a vocation of service rooted in closeness to the people and compassion for the suffering.
“The Priest must be a point of reference and a beacon of hope for all,” the Angolan member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (CSSp./Holy Ghost Fathers/Spiritans) said during the Eucharistic celebration held on Saturday, October 26, at St. John the Baptist Parish of Caxito Diocese.
In his homily, he encouraged the new Priests to embrace their ministry with humility and perseverance, saying, “The Priestly life is marked by sacrifice, but each act of service is an encounter with Christ. Persevere with love, care for every person, and keep the flame of faith and hope alive.”
Bishop Camuto noted that Priestly ministry must go beyond liturgical duties to include daily accompaniment of the faithful in their joys and struggles.
