Kaduna, 20 November, 2025 / 5:16 pm (ACI Africa).
The Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna in Nigeria has refuted circulating social media reports that Fr. Bobbo Paschal, abducted on November 17, has been killed.
In a statement issued Thursday, November 20, the Chancellor of the Nigerian Metropolitan See described claims that the kidnapped Priest had been murdered as “false, unfounded”, and urged the public to disregard them.
“Our attention has been drawn to the unverified news being circulated on social media that the abducted Priest, Fr. Bobbo Paschal, has been killed. We wish to refute this information completely as false, unfounded, and should be disregarded by the public,” Fr. Christian Okewu Emmanuel said in the statement shared with ACI Africa.
He added, “Fr. Paschal is still alive, and ongoing efforts by relevant authorities are being made toward his safe and immediate release.”
He appealed to the public, bloggers, and social media users to “avoid spreading unverified information, realizing that such rumours could cause unnecessary panic, trauma to the Priest’s family, and complicate any progress being made to rescue victims.”
