Members of the Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops Conference (ZCBC) have lauded the ongoing Catholic Church’s 2025 Jubilee Year for providing the people of God in the Southern African nation with an opportunity for communion and spiritual renewal.
In their Friday, November 21 Pastoral Message for Advent 2025, ZCBC members note that the Advent Season, which is set to begin on Sunday, November 30, comes “at a particularly meaningful moment, as the Jubilee Year draws to a close."
They describe the Jubilee Year, which the late Pope Francis officially launched on the Eve of Christmas 2024 with the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica, as “a profound season of grace and pilgrimage.”
“Many faithful from Zimbabwe joined millions across the world in travelling to Rome and other holy sites, seeking renewal, communion, and a deeper encounter with the Lord,” the Catholic Church leaders say, commending the people of God under their pastoral care for their participation in the activities of the Jubilee Year.
They express hope that the experiences of the Jubilee pilgrims are to “rekindle faith, inspire repentance, and strengthen our collective commitment to justice, peace, and love” – virtues they identify as vital for both Church in particular and society in general.
