Pope Francis has appointed Bishop David Kamau as the Apostolic Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru in Kenya.
The Holy Father’s Representative in Kenya, Archbishop Hubertus van Megen announced the Papal appointment at Tumsifu Centre Saturday, March 19, during the installation of the new Local Ordinary of Kisumu Archdiocese, Archbishop Maurice Muhatia Makumba.
Announcing the Papal appointment of Bishop Kamau to temporarily oversee the administration of Nakuru Diocese, the Apostolic Nuncio in Kenya who also represents the Holy Father in South Sudan said that it would take “some time” before a new Bishop is appointed for Nakuru Diocese.
“As of now, the Diocese of Nakuru is vacant and we’ll need some time to find a new Bishop. For the Diocese, we had to appoint an Apostolic Administrator; the Bishop who will govern the Diocese for the time being till a new Bishop has been found,” Archbishop van Megen said March 19.
