The Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Wau in South Sudan has called on the people of God in the East-Central African nation to let go the tendency to focus on differences and instead open a new chapter of unity that would see cohesion among communities restored.
Fr. Germano Bernardo Baku who was speaking July 16 at the end of the workshop on social cohesion in the South Sudanese Diocese called on participants in the workshop to foster the gospel of peace in their respective communities.
“I urged you the participants to go and tell the communities to forget the past and start a new chapter in our lives so that we can restore social cohesion among the communities,” Fr. Baku said.
He added, “Justice and Peace Commission in the Catholic Diocese of Wau has organized this workshop on peaceful coexistence in order to help in the restoration of social cohesion to different people in the communities.”
“I asked you the participants to embrace unity and know your roles in the community,” the South Sudanese catholic Priest said, and urged them “to be messengers of peace in your communities to restore social cohesion.”
