Apostolic Nuncio in Cameroon Transferred, to Represent the Holy Father in Sweden

Pope Francis has transferred Archbishop Julio Murat who has been serving as Apostolic Nuncio in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea to the Vatican Diplomatic Mission in Sweden and Iceland.

The Papal transfer of Archbishop Murat was made public on November 9 and published by the Holy See Press Office.

The 61-year-old native of Turkey’s Diocese of Izmir who was ordained Priest in May 1986 entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in December 1994.

Since, then, he has served in the Pontifical Representations in Indonesia, Pakistan, Belarus and Austria.

The holder of a doctorate in Canon Law also represented the Holy Father in the Southern African nations of Zambia and Malawi.

Archbishop Murat who speaks Italian, English, Turkish and French was appointed as the Apostolic Nuncio in Cameroon in March 2018.
