“Bring peace to our people”: Catholic Bishop to Politicians in South Sudan

“Let our leaders consider the provision of services to the population for the benefit of every individual this Holy Week because this is the time we offer the right services to all the people,” the 51-year-old South Sudanese Bishop who started his Episcopal Ministry in May 2022 further said.

He highlighted the plight of the people in the country that has witnessed civil strife since December 2013, just over two years after gaining independence from Sudan following the January 2011 referendum. 

“There are people who are suffering; such people need to be supported with the same services others are getting in this country,” Bishop Lodiong said.

The South Sudanese Catholic Bishop further called on the people of God in the country to look to the person of Jesus Christ who gave up His life for the salvation of all, and embrace a change of heart and live in peace.

“This is the change we want in our people this Holy Week so that they can get blessings and salvation from God,” the Catholic Church leader said in his Passion Sunday homily.
