The Vatican has announced the appointment of Bishop Dominic Kimengich of Kenya’s Catholic Diocese of Eldoret as Coadjutor Archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Mombasa, with the canonical right of succession to Archbishop Martin Kivuva Musonde, who will turn 74 on February 10.

The creation of Kenya’s new Diocese of Kapsabet, carved from the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret, is a blessing to the people of God in the East African nation, the Pioneer Bishop of the Diocese that Pope Leo XIV erected on July 10 has said.

Pope Leo XIV has erected the Catholic Diocese of Kapsabet as the 28th Episcopal See in Kenya, carved out from the country’s Eldoret Catholic Diocese.
