Promoting “good health” is part of the evangelization mission, Bishop Matthew Remijio Adam of South Sudan’s Catholic Diocese of Wau has said.
Speaking during the inauguration of a renovated Maternity Ward at Wau Teaching Hospital (WTH) on Wednesday, October, 25, Bishop Remijio said, “Evangelization will not go on without good health because health goes together with Church duties.”
“Health is part of development according to the Church,” Bishop Remijio emphasized during the inauguration of the maternity ward that was renovated in partnership with the Italian Association for Solidarity Among People (AISPO) and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
The South Sudanese member of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus (MCCJ) further said, “In our program of evangelization; we consider health as a social wing of the Church because we cannot evangelize people without good health because unhappy people cannot listen to the Good News of Jesus Christ.”
He went on to underscore the need to keep the renovated Maternity Ward clean, adding that such a resolve will go a long way in enhancing services at the health facility.
