Pope Leo XIV on Sunday spoke about unity in the Catholic Church after bestowing the pallium on 54 new metropolitan archbishops on the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, patrons of the city of Rome.
The pope addressed thousands gathered within St. Peter’s Basilica amid renovation projects in preparation for the upcoming 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope.
Each blessed pallium will be placed on the shoulders of the 42 new metropolitan archbishops who were appointed during the last year, including two Americans.
The pope prayed a mid-week Angelus to mark the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, the patron saints of the city of Rome.
