Auchi, 15 August, 2025 / 10:12 pm (ACI Africa).
Nigeria’s Catholic Diocese of Auchi has confirmed the authenticity of a recent viral video showing two of the three Seminarians abducted from the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary on July 10.
The footage shows the two young Seminarians with what appears to be a human skull crying and pleading for their release while surrounded by gun-wielding individuals believed to be their captors.
In a statement issued Thursday, August 14, the Director of Communications of Auchi Diocese says, “After thorough examination of the said video, it is with deep pain and hurt that we can confirm that the children in the said video are two of the three Seminarians kidnapped when gunmen attacked the Priests and Seminarians of the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary.”
“On the 18th of July 2025, one of the Seminarians, who was injured, was released by the abductors, leaving the other two with them,” Fr. Peter Egielewa says in the statement.
He adds, “The Diocese of Auchi has been in contact with the kidnappers, urging them to release the remaining two Seminarians.”
