The member of the Comboni Missionaries (MCCJ) appealed for assistance, saying, “I hope that those who are working on the humanitarian support will continue to assist those affected with basic needs because most of their stuff have been destroyed by the flood.”
“The affected people cannot depend on their own right now because there is nothing,” he further said, and added in reference to victims of the floods, “Without external support they cannot help themselves since most of their things have been destroyed by the recent floods.”
The 49-year-old South Sudanese Bishop who has been at the helm of Wau Diocese since his Episcopal Ordination on 24 January 2021 continued, “More than seventy percent of the population here have been affected, which is something bad for the Diocese because these are the people we serve.”
He called upon those affected by the floods “to have hope and faith in God as the authorities continue to find ways of offering them humanitarian support.”
He also encouraged them “to be strong despite the challenges they are going through that God will eventually help them out of these suffering.”
“We pray that God continues to strengthen their hearts (in) this trying moment because it’s something that happened unexpectedly (and) that affects them severely,” Bishop Remijo implored in reference to those affected by floods in South Sudan.
